St. Kitts &
Nevis Population:
36,000 approx. St. Kitt's/ 9,000
approx. Nevis Description:Twin-nation comprising St. Kitt's (68 sq.miles) and Nevis (36 sq. miles). Probably the way the English Caribbean looked at the turn of 20th C., these pretty, tranquil islands are covered in fields of cane, sugar mills and very pretty old houses adorned with elaborate gingerbread. St. Kitt's is the larger of the two and has the most varied terrain, as well as some beautfully restored plantation houses. Not many beaches, but sand colours range from pale to mink-brown to "black". Nevis has a large volcanic central peak ringed with cloud, and is surrounded by cool, green hills. Some very nice white beaches. The main town in Nevis -- Charlestown -- is charming: small but busy, with sun-faded original wooden buildings. | ||
